Improvisational Dance & Jam

I'm excited to welcome back Tommy Russo to the monk-e temple for an afternoon workshop in contact improvisation followed by a potluck, and then an evening of improvisational dance & sound healing.

15u - 17u30: Contact Improvisation Workshop 

17u30 - 19u: Vegan Potluck (bring vegan food if you stay)

19u - 21u15: Improvisational Dance Jam  

Tools and techniques:

We’ll review fundamental skills that can be useful in contact  improvisation and incorporate them in a safe and fun way into dance. We  advance quickly but confidently, developing a stronger, more aware body.  

Working with partners, points of contact and play with weight and  spatial directions to develop subtle, as well as highly physical  movement abilities and creatively explore and improvise movement  patterns and pathways. With no fixed steps, flowing through space and  levels, from rolls to lifts to flying. 

Open to beginners and advanced.

In the second part of this event, our improvisational dance will be  guided by DJ Michael. A very gifted musician and DJ that will bring "een relaxed setje met saz, oud en cello".

You can come for the first part only for 22 euro.

You can come to the second part only for 12 euro.

If you stay for the full event: bring vegan food for a potluck (everyone shares their meal, no dead animal food in the monk-e temple).

Tommy Russo (USA/BE) initially studied psychology at Umass Boston and  practiced combat sports in local clubs, including boxing and karate.  Since then, he has also practiced/ trained in folk and ballroom dance,  drama therapy, postural integration, Shintaido (dance form of Aïkido),  Savate (French kickboxing), clown work, family constellations,  contemporary dance, Alexander technique, play fight, partnering  techniques, acro and acroyoga. He has been practicing contact improvisation since 1997 and has been  performing and teaching for adults and children since 2013. He loves  combining artistic disciplines in creative ways and enjoys encouraging  and working with people developing skills and confidence.
